After scoring Jamaica's victory goal against Haiti last Saturday in CONCACAF (Confederation of North, Central America and Caribbean Football Association) Gold Cup quarterfinals, Jamaican player Giles Barnes said his team is making the most out of the tournament.

In an interview published at Gold Cup 2015 website, Barnes said Jamaica is making the most out of the regional competition.

Last Saturday, after scoring the only goal in the 1-0 victory against Haiti, Barnes received a text message from his father.

"I just received a text message from my father telling he is very proud of me," said the player adding "these are the things that relieve the heart. I make my family happy and this is what really matters."

Barnes' goal led the "Reggae Boyz" to the semifinals. They will play against the United States, current champions, in Atlanta next Wednesday.

The Jamaican star, 26, has had a great year, including his international debut and good performances in U.S. club Houston Dynamo.

"It has been a crazy beginning in Houston," said Barnes, former player of Derby County. "I would like to achieve more points with the club, but my performance has been very good. It has been incredible to represent my country. My dreams have come true. I don't have words right now, but I feel very proud."

The first time the Jamaican team reached this stage was in 1998 and Barnes said they have still more deeds to achieve.

"People did not expect that we would win in our group and we did it. People did not expect that we would qualify to semifinals and we did it. We know we are not the favorite team, but we know what we are capable of. We will continue proving it."
